At Marie Callender's restaurants, there's a reason for the warm, friendly atmosphere and the deliciously wholesome food that satisfies even the hungriest tummies. Everything about our famous restaurants is inspired by the woman who started it all - Marie Callender.
In the early 1940's, Marie Callender built a reputation for her uncommonly delicious pies - pies renowned for their light, flaky crusts filled with fresh fruits or creamy fillings. Soon she was selling her pies to restaurants throughout Southern California. By 1948, to meet customer demand, the Callender family opened a wholesale bakery. The bakery and Marie Callender's reputation continued to grow for almost two decades.
Marie's son, Don Callender, opened the first Marie Callender's restaurant in Southern California in 1964; by 1970 the thriving chain had grown to 26 restaurants. Marie Callender's restaurants developed a significant reputation for offering generous portions of scrumptious, well-prepared foods and, of course, Marie's irresistible pies.
Today, we operate over 160 locations. in the United States and in Mexico. Building upon the popularity of our great food and our emphasis on great service, we continue to expand and test new ideas to serve our customers better.
